Undersheriff Robert Dawson is in charge of the Monmouth County 9-1-1 Communications Center where he leads a team of 66 public safety telecommunicators as well as 14 administrative staff members.

The 9-1-1 Communications Center provides a high level of 9-1-1 services to 44 municipalities, dispatches for 9 police departments, 28 fire departments and 23 first aid squads. Communications also operates two mobile command posts units (Field Comm), that respond to large scale incidents and events throughout Monmouth County.

Undersheriff Dawson has a wealth of experience in law enforcement. He was chief of police in Spring Lake since 1996 where rose through the ranks, and, prior to joining the Spring Lake Police Department he was a police officer in Spring Lake Heights.  In addition Undersheriff Dawson is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, a certified public manager, a certified New Jersey law enforcement executive, past president of the Monmouth County Police Chief's Association and a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs.
